MRZ Passport Reader

Grabba's MRZ passport reader utlises Access-IS technology as used in many of the world's major airlines and at the world’s major airports. The MRZ Reader is able to work in conjunction with the Grabba RFID reader by first reading the Machine Readable Zone of the passport, then providing an unlock code once successful to the RFID reader. This can be used to extract information stored on the chip inside the passport.

Key Feature of the MRZ Passport Reader:

Reads machine readable passports (MRP) and Visas (MRV) OCRB encoded cards such as the US Resident Alien card and European national ID cards and travel cards conforming to ICAO Document 9303 Reads APACS debit and credit documents (APACS standards 3.1 and 3.2) Mixed E13B and OCRB fonts

  • Standard OCR fonts: OCR-B and E13B
  • Machine readable passports (MRP) : 2 lines of 44 characters
  • Machine readable visas (MRV) : 2 lines of 44 characters, 2 lines of 36 characters
  • Travel documents: 2 lines of 36 characters, 3 lines of 30 characters
  • Field of view object height: 19.6mm nominal
  • Depth of field: 1.5mm maximum from imager window
